Dr. Schumacher studied Electrical Engineering at the Helmuth-Schmidt-University in Hamburg, Germany, where he later did his PhD Dissertation in Control Theory. After a first occupation in industry as a Research Assistant in the Philips Research Laboratories, he started in 1997 working for Robert Bosch GmbH in Germany and since then held different management positions in Bosch.

From 2011 to 2015 Dr. Schumacher worked in Changsha, Hunan Province, where he was Head of Engineering for the Bosch Division Starter Motors and Generators. Since 2015 he has been working for UAES, Shanghai, and is here responsible for the Business Unit Electric Vehicles and Hybrid Technology.

Why does the whole automotive industry and in particular Bosch and UAES invest so heavily in electrification? What are the key factors to succeed in future automotive business?
